From Photo Shoots to the Runway: The Inspiring Journey of Model Washika Arnold
Washika Arnold is a 38-year-old model from Lynchburg, VA who has overcome various obstacles in life to follow her dreams. She began modeling in 2016, only taking part in photo shoots initially. But it was in March 2022 when she walked the runway for the first time as a model for No Heels to Heal fashion show that she realized how much potential she had. The show was spearheaded by Jonice Cromartie and proved to be a turning point in Washika’s career.
Just out of substance abuse treatment and early into recovery at that time, Washika was looking for something new to do with herself. She also wanted an avenue to share her testimony with others, so she took up modeling as a platform. Her journey involves a tragic car accident that occurred in 2009 which led to her having her leg amputated. However, this did not deter her from embracing this opportunity fully.
After modeling for a year and traveling to different states like Atlanta, North & South Carolina, Washika’s boyfriend and she decided they wanted to organize their own fashion show called Spring Into Recovery. This event celebrated not just her recovery but anything anyone else has recovered from. This empowering concept truly resonated with the audience.
Furthering her accomplishments, Washika competed in four pageants in Lynchburg Virginia where she currently resides - Klassy Kurves 2018 (1st runner-up), Ladies of Va International 2022 (2nd runner-up), and Ladies of Va 2023 (1st runner-up). Her success continued as she got published in seven magazines and one calendar.
Looking ahead, Washika is working on an idea for the next Spring Into Recovery show and will walk No Heels To Heal on Oct 7th in Fayetteville, NC. Fans can also catch her walking the ramp at Island Nights Cruise and Fashion Show from Nov 16-20. Her journey is an inspiration for all those who want to overcome obstacles in life and pursue their dreams with grit and determination.
Washika Arnold’s story is a testament to the fact that no matter how many obstacles one faces in life, it is possible to overcome them with determination and hard work. Her journey from photo shoots to the runway proves that anything is possible if you have the courage to pursue your dreams. Washika’s inspiring story teaches us that no matter what life throws at us, we can rise above it and create a bright future for ourselves. So let her journey be an inspiration to all of us as we navigate our own paths in life.
